Danielle Jatlow

Danielle Jatlow is a self-practiced artist. Her work focuses on form, urge, shapes, whimsy, lines, planes, illusion, and balance. Danielle engages in creative composition (albeit, often via repetition) as a means to unhook from everyday routine and move toward a state of unrefined inner immersion, relaxation, and novelty. The forms she makes often develop unexpected seams and connections within each piece. While Danielle has her own thoughts and ideas about her work, they are not to be held in a dominant position over those who observe the pieces. In addition to paper, she also draws on linen, canvas, walls, pizza boxes, cardboard from take out orders, and herself.

Danielle started engaging with her repetitive drawing method while living in the Mission District in San Francisco, CA in the early 2000s. She continued her practice while living in New York, NY, and now makes art in Burlington, VT, most recently (2021) incorporating paint into her ink drawings.
